HomeMy WebLinkAbout07 Greetings, Four score and seven years ago……….Oh wait, that has already been used. I have felt that I should say some- thing important and that sounded very important. And in its day it was, but we have not even been an incorporated city for that long. But there are many great and important things happening in our fair community. Can you believe this weather that we are having? Last Wednesday the high was 95 degrees a short 5 days later the high was 56 degrees. It keeps thing fresh and interesting. We are getting a substantial amount of rain today. This has been the wettest year I can remember for a long time, maybe even ever. With the way we are dependent on water in this state that is a great blessing. Our aquifer is receiving a much needed recharge with this abundant moisture. May 30th we had a ribbon cutting at the new Stuart Park splash pad and opened it for public use. It has been great to see many come and enjoy this amenity. It should provide some much needed relief as the weather gets hot this summer. The community has also picked the park playground equipment and it will now be ordered and installed as soon as possible. If you have not made it by to see the new updated Stuart Park I would invite you to swing by and take a look. It is wonderful and will provide some great opportunities for families and others to gather. The Siphon Road Interstate Exchange is moving along. We should get a final answer from the Idaho Transportation Board on June 22nd. I hope to be able to give more detail on this in my next newsletter. The 4th of July is here and I hope each of you can find some special time to celebrate this free land in which we live. I hope this letter finds all well with each of you. May you have a blessed and prospered summer. A new area code 986 will overlay the existing 208 area code for the State of Idaho, bringing 10-digit dialing to the region. You won’t have to change your present telephone number. The new 986 area code will be assigned only for new telephone numbers within the area code region. The only change will be the way you dial local calls in the 208 area code region. Effective August 5, 2017, dialing area code 208 in addition to the seven-digit telephone number will be necessary for local and expanded local calls to be completed.  It will not be necessary to dial a “1” or a “0” when dialing your local and expanded local calls.  Local calling areas and rates will not be affected by this change.  Special services that use three-digit numbers, such as 911 and 411, as well as 1+ 10-digit long distance, will not change.  Other three-digit numbers that are currently available in your community or from your provider, such as 211, 311, 511, 611, 711 or 811, will not change. If you have questions about the new area code in Idaho, visit att.com/areacode.
