HomeMy WebLinkAbout11 15 1973 CMMinutes of a specikl meeting of the mayor and council held in the city municipal building November 15, 1973, at 5:00 p.m. Present: Mayor Cotant, Councilmen Kinghorn, Menard, Ro~riell and Taylor, Clerk Vera Armstrong Purpose of special meeting is to consider purchase of property for a city building, fire station, police station and storage and other city use. Property is located at ~5~5 Yellowstone, consists of five acres with 168 foot frontage along Yellowstone highway and belongs to Julia Larkin. Purpose of meeting submitted to council in writing. Meeting called to order by Mayor Cotant at 5:00 p.m. PROPOSAL TO PURCHASE PROPERTY - Mayor informed council the city was definitely in need of more area for storage, parking of equipment, fire truck parking and etc. Mayor said if the present building was remodeled and additional acreage to the side or back was purchased, the cost would be much higher than if acreage was purchased that would allow the municiPal building and office, fire station, police department, streets, water, garbage and sewer departments to all operate from one location. Mrs Larkin is asking $35,000.00 for the five acres. Council were in agreement with mayors proposal and Councilman Rontriell made motion for mayor to negotiate and purchase five acres of land at ~5~5 Yellowstone from Mrs. Larkin. Kinghorn seconded motion with an unanimous vote in favor of motion. Meeting adjourned at 5:30 p.m. Vera C. Armstrong, City clerk // John O. Cotant, Jr., Mayor
