HomeMy WebLinkAbout06 05 1973 CMMinutes of a specisl meetiug of the Mayor and Cou~ncil held in the city municipal building June 5, 1973. Present: Mayor Cotaut, Councilman Kinghorn, Menard,' Romriell and Taylor. Engineers Larry Perkins and Doug Jensen, Oregon Construction vice president Doug Gadd and Superintendent Orville Mortenson. Purpose of special meeting is to discuss progress and any problems arising with sewer construction. Meeting called to order at 3:50 p.m. by Mayor Cotant. SERVICE LINES FOLLOWING MAIN LINES - Mayor Cotant stated he would like to see these lines installed right after the main line. Doug Gadd said they were behind on account of bad weather earlier but think they can keep up now, which is their intentions. STREET PAVING - Mayor said he would like to see street repairs and paving done as soon as possibe after installation of sewer line. Mr. Mortenson and Mr. Gadd said arrange- ments have been made to start paving streets complete the first part of this month· CLEANING UP FARM AREA EASEMENTS- Councilman Kinghorn told of areas in need of repairs; Ortons, Samples and Waltons. Doug Jensen said an appointment has been set up to get these repairs agreed upon· PUMPING STATION ON SIPHON AND SORRELL - Councilman Menard remarked this area needs cleaned up. Mr. Mortenson advised council service lines will be started this week on Sorrell and Lariat and street will then be repaired properly· TRANSITE PIPE ON SORREL ANDLARIAT - Joe Brennanwarned of seriousness of breaking these plastic or transite water lines, since they were extremely difficult to repair. Oregon Company agreed to be especially careful. SERVICE LINES ON PRIVATE PROPERTY - Mr. Brennan stated service lines need to be 10 ft from water line. After reading from code book Engineer Perkins said rules could be interpreted differently. After discussion it was agreed upon by city engineer, mayor, council and city inspector that all lines will be required to be l0 feet from water line if possible, if not the inspector may at his discretion approve alternate provisions according to the code. SERVICE LINES OUTSIDE CITY LIMITS - Doug Gadd suggested these residents get a bid from local contractors to do their service lines. After a lengthy discussion Larry Perkins and Doug Gadd remarked paving was a sm~l] cost of future service lines and thought it would be best if left undone for now. Doug Gadd added he would prefer not to have service lines connected to the main line now because there is quite a chance dirt and gravel can get into line which would hamper acceptance of their line. Mayor and Council were in agreement with Mr. Gadd and this was approved by council. SEWER SERVICE TO TAHOE ST. SOUTH OF BONANZA - Reviewed by engineer, mayor and counc~_l. It was determined these homes were finished and lived in at time sewer bond election passed so sewer service will need to be engineered and installed on this street· SCHEDULE FOR SEWER CONSTRUCTION - Engineer Perkius presented a schedule for completion of sewer project. After reviewing same, engineer and mayor recommended counc~ approve schedule. Councilman Menard moved council approve the schedule presented. Taylor seconded with all in favor of motion.
