Rain, Back to School, Honoring Veterans & our
new website
Greetings,
What a beautiful day we have out there today. This has been
a very interesting summer. We have had record rainfall.
Along with the challenges that it has given us, I can't
remember the last time I saw it so green around the
Chubbuck area at the end of August. The weather service
reports that we had 2.18 inches of rain as of Aug. 25th. The
average for August in our area is .41 inches. As a side note, I
was with some Twin Falls City Officials recently and they had
2 days of record rainfall at 1.63 and 2.00 inches in those two
days and an August total of 5.50 inches. This weather
pattern has caused flooding in many areas which has
challenged many of us and the farmers are experiencing

neighbors with the opportunity to reach out to those who
have been negatively affected and offer our assistance.
School has started again and school children will be out
walking to and from school. This means that we all need to
be very aware of them as we drive. We need to watch closely
at cross walks and stop as we approach children trying to
cross our streets. Slow and cautious are good policies
whenever little ones are around where we are driving.
There will be many activities the next couple of months to
honor Veterans and those who serve us. I would encourage
each one of us to appropriately acknowledge those who
have given, as well as those who now give, so much for the
liberty and freedom we enjoy. With all of the challenges we
face this is still the greatest country on earth with so many
opportunities for each one of us as we apply ourselves.
Our new website will be up and running within the next
couple of weeks and I would like to encourage all of our
citizens to become familiar with this site and use it regularly.
On a personal note I would like to state how grateful I am to
have the opportunity to represent the City of Chubbuck and
each one of you as your Mayor. I will continue to work hard
at bringing growth and prosperity to our community. I
assure you we have great people serving you as the city
staff. They have your very best in mind as they serve. Your
continued support is very much appreciated.
