HomeMy WebLinkAbout02There is a mistake in Mayor's letter.
Skate board park should be "will
not be a large facility."
Baseball sign up should be
"program not problem."

A comment on Christmas decorations in our city.
would not want to be a judge in this decorating
contest. It is good that the committee recruits out
of city people to judge. In the City of Chubbuck
we do an outstanding job of celebration the
holiday season. If only we could have better
response from many of our business locations.
The Green "T" has always "lit" up, and a few
others but along Yellowstone we need better
participation. Sub -divisions are excellent.
Spring is soon with us. Water is a concern. At the
city we shall keep a close look at water supply and
apply controls when necessary. For the present a
couple of suggestions — take 2 minutes showers—
use less water in the bathtub—do full loads of
Landry and full loads in the dishwasher. Repair all
Leaks.
The council will be considering a skate park in the
city. We have several locations in mind in our city
parks. We will discuss this with those of you who
live near these sites. These will be large skate
board facilities but enough for the local "kids" to
enjoy. I doubt we will draw any outside the area
youth to these facilities.
If you have speeding on your residential street
please advise the mayor. We are aware of streets
that are speed type and will address these as best
we can this year. We have experimented with
speed bumps in a couple of areas and to this
writing I believe the feeling of the residents is
positive. These "bumps" are costly so we are
limited in our ability to place in all areas of need
at one time.
We need volunteers to assist in police, around city
hall, senior citizens to patrol parking at stores—
emergency zones, handicap zones, etc. Please call
police at 237-7172 if you notice anything wrong
in your neighborhood. Drug traffic can easily be
recognized and the first is too many cars going to
and leaving from the same home and at all hours
of the day or night.
Youth baseball sign up will begin immediately. It
is your problem. If you have questions or concerns
with the programs please come in and discuss
these with the council or the parks superintendent.
Our police will soon be advertising for individuals
who would be interested in volunteer police
duties. Contact police chief Richard Webb at 237-
7172 You would be trained, uniformed, etc. at city
expense. Our citizen on patrol program needs
more volunteers. Those who have participated
have done an outstanding service for our city. We
have eliminated, nearly, all crime in areas where
the COP'S patrol. If your neighborhood has
vandalism problems join the COP's program. It is
successful in controlling and eliminating crime in
our city.
The City of Chubbuck is interested in your views
on weekly curbside recycling. Many communities
provide recycling as part of their total solid waste
service package to their citizens. Recycling saves
natural resources, energy, and turns material that
would otherwise become waste into valuable
resources.
Currently, disposal space in the County landfill is
being depleting unnecessarily. Please take a
minute and let us know your thoughts. Together
we can make a difference. Thank you.

Help It Grow Every Year
We have citizens asking if more activities will be
going on at Cotant Park following the Chubbuck
Days Parade. So far, we have not had the human
resources to expand the celebration, but with your
help that could change. A Chubbuck Days
Committee will be formed, if enough people
volunteer to make arrangements. What are you
good at? Suggested sub -committees include
Entertainment, Food, and a possible Fun Run.
The target date is Saturday, August 16th. If you
have been picturing a more fulfilling Chubbuck
Days, or have a business, why not help our
community celebration grow enough to make it a
great day for the whole family? We need to plan
early! Just call DeLaina at 237-2430 to sign up.
To help the Pride Committee with awards,
including the Annual Garden Awards, call Mary
Harker at 237-8348.
There have been some changes over the winter
months in the Ordinance for those in the business
of Child Care. The new number when requiring a
license is when you care for one child for
monetary gain. You will need a license in the City
to run your business whether home based or as a
center.
The Non -Profit group Success by Six has
obtained a grant to help with the cost of getting a
license. Upon passing a background check and
becoming licensed. You may send your receipts
along with a form you will be provided at tl
police department to Success by Six for full '
reimbursement.
