Spring Cleanup branch chipping service all
Dogs day long.
Dog licenses will be half-price until May
16'11 Spayed or neutered dogs $3.00. Un-
altered dogs $5.00. Although the city always
has a problem with dogs running at large, we
have also received many complaints about
the messes left in our parks by dogs on
leashes. It seems to be the worst along the
pathways. The best solution is for pet owners
to clean up after their own animals. The city
will be providing extra trash cans where you
can leave the clean up bag. We do not want
to eliminate the privilege of having dogs on
leashes in the parks, but this will be the final
solution, if necessary. Please clean up after
your dog, so we can all enjoy the park
together.
Parks &Rec
If you have a young player to sign up for
Tiger or T ball, please call the city. You can
still get on a team!
The Police have located those responsible for
the graffiti on various properties in the city.
They will be prosecuted. All the city parks
have surveillance cameras, which give us
pictures of those who commit vandalism.
We sometimes have more playground
equipment than we have people available to
install it. If you want to volunteer to assist
with installing this equipment, please call
237-2430. In any case, spring brings children
out to play in the streets. Please obey traffic
speed limits of 20 MPH in subdivisions.
Home Improvement Cleanup
Residents constructing outbuildings, fences,
etc., should notify our Building Inspector for
regulations concerning this type of construc-
tion.
If you are removing a tree that you would
like to donate to the city, please call 237-
2430. Also, we will come chip tree limbs
(less than four inches in diameter), if you will
place them at the curb and notify Public
Works. We can usually get to them within
one day. Don't forget to clean up the debris
after limbs are removed. Or you can bring
your limbs to City Hall on May 31 for the
I encourage everyone to clean-up around
their homes. The condition of my yard is
reflected in the value of my neighbors
property. City ordinance requires yards and
homes be maintained equal to the majority of
homes in that neighborhood. This means the
lawn watered and mowed, the house painted,
and windows & screens maintained properly.
Have a good look at your home. Do you
measure up? Do you set a good example? If
not -do it and be the example in your
neighborhood.

We are happy to announce Saturday, May 31d
as the day when both Chubbuck and
Pocatello will be culminating a Spring
Cleanup week. Chubbuck is a great place to
live, and our community pride is reflected in
neighborhood cleanliness and appearance.
While the City can provide support in
removing any trash or yard debris that is
collected, we need your help. We invite
everyone in town to clean up their own
property, and also to pitch in on neighbor-
hood efforts. Here's our plan:
Oversized Roll -off Containers -
Please make good use of all three roll-
off containers, generously contributed
by PSI Waste Systems, at the locations
listed below. The City will be able to
empty trash at the county landfill
without having to pay fees on desig-
nated days, which will save our citizens
tax money! But please, do not abuse the
service by throwing in hazardous or
restricted waste.

2. Group Cleanup Projects - Citizens
unite! We encourage any group to
gather up and bag litter on May 311 (or
right before). If it won't fit in your
garbage cart, you could put them into
the oversized roll -off containers
provided by PSI Waste Systems at the
locations listed above. If you have
many volunteers, consider sending part
of your group to an alternative
container site to avoid overcrowding at
the closest one. If necessary, put the
bags of litter out near the curb, and our
City crew will pick them up on
Monday.
3. Branch Chipping - Since tree or bush
branches fill up the roll -offs quickly,
this year the City will be prepared to
run them through the chipper for you
at City Hall. The bases of the branches
can be no more than 4 inches in
diameter. Please bring them to the City
site. Our attendant will chip them, and
you can keep the chips if you like.
Whether you can clean only your yard or an
entire neighborhood, your effort will be
appreciated. Normally, it costs you money to
dump trash at the county landfill. Don't miss
this opportunity!
-PoliceDepartment
We have not received the parking permits
for around the city parks this year. The
Police Department will not be issuing
parking tickets in these areas due to this
delay. We are asking citizens who call with
concerns to please continue using the
permits they already have. The expiration
date is 04/15/03.
It's summer time again! To keep your lawn
green and healthy and to conserve water
here is a tip to help you (It either works with
or without a sprinkler system). Take a
regular 9" pie pan and set it out on the lawn,
turn on water to your sprinkler (or to that
station) and start timing. Once the water has
reached a depth of 1" mark the time. This is
the amount of time you will need to water
each section of lawn you have to keep your
lawn green. The frequency of watering
depends on the weather. It is also important
not to water in the sunny hours of the day, as
the water on the grass acts as a magnifying
glass and actually burns it. The best hours
are before dawn and after dusk.

straw.
