The weather is hot and it is dusty especially
around construction sites, we have met with the
building contractors to insist they keep dust
under control. The city has assisted in this. The
city will enforce our ordinance pertaining to this
violation.
bbuck, ID 83202-0006 • Phone (208) 237-2400
Tree Trimming and or shrub removal - If you
trim your trees or shrubs pile the limbs along the
curb. Call the city office at 237-2430 and we will
chip these up, haul them away or you may keep
the chips. Please clean the street after the removal
of chips.
City Dump Truck: We have a dump truck
available for your use to clean up your yard or
junk on the weekend. We will park the truck
where you ask and will then take the loaded truck
to the landfill on Monday morning. The only
cost to you is the charge of the landfill.
Mailbox: If your mailbox is located in the
sidewalk and you have the "roll' type curb, would
you move your mailbox back off the sidewalk. If
you do not have a sidewalk, leave the mailbox
where it is. A mailbox in a sidewalk, as we all
know, is a safety hazard. The post office can
deliver your mail to this new location.
Water: Please be conservative in watering outside
and in your home usage. For watering yards we
urge you to water during the night time hours.
This will save water and you will not need to
water as often as if you water during the heat of
the day.
Lawnmower: Set your lawnmower on "3" inch
setting. This also will save water and keep the
grass green.
Noise Ordinance: Do not mow lawn before 7
AM and also no construction prior to 7 AM with
the exception of a roofer placing shingles early to
beat the heat. Quiet time in the evening is 9:30
PM. Those of you who work on items in your
garage be quiet about it after these hours.
Boom Boxes -Radios in your car should only be
loud enough for the occupant of the car to hear.
The sound should not carry outside of the car.
Excessive noise from auto engine exhaust mufflers
is addressed by Idaho Code 49-937. It is illegal to
alter any vehicle exhaust system in such a way
that allows the noise level from the exhaust
system to be higher than original equipment from
the manufacturer. This law covers cars, trucks,
pickups and motorcycles.
Speed Bumps: Many of you have requested speed
bumps in the street in front of your home. I agree
we need more of these traffic control devices. If
you want a speed bump please contact the Mayor
or comment when returning this letter. However,
the State of Idaho has cut our street funding
considerably leaving the city unable to fund the
construction of these "bumps". There are
property owners who have expressed the need for
the bumps and are willing to pay the cost. This
costis $500 each.
Stop signs: If you believe an intersection needs a
stop sign again notify the Mayor. These speed
bumps and additional stop signs may save an
injury or life of a child or an adult.
Fire danger: Be extremely careful of your camp
fires when camping. We have all seen the air
tankers carrying flame retardant to fires in our
area. These fires cost you and I, the taxpayer, so
please be aware of fire control.
Blighted property: The city ordinance requires a
home owner to maintain your yard in an orderly
manner. It should be clean of weeds, green,
mowed regularly and junk out of sight. Your
home should be properly painted, screens and
doors in good repair. Remember each property
affects the value of all properties in the neighbor-
hood. We are enforcing this ordinance each day.
Positive response has been good. Take a look at
your home and yard and see if you meet these
requirements. If you own rental units in the city
your responsibility is the same as a homeowner.
If you do not meet the requirements please take
steps to do so. If you do not, please do not be
upset when a city official presents you with a
citation.
Drug traffic. Continues to be a problem. If you
notice extra car traffic to a location notify the
police at 237-7172 and let the police take care of
this. We all need to be the eyes and ears of our
city. Without your help we cannot do the job we
should.
Children: Be aware of children playing in the
streets. Kids do the darndest things and are not
responsible for their actions so be careful. Drive
below the speed limit. If you have any concerns or
questions about the city please fill out the space
below and return to city hall. If you do not get a
response, please contact the Mayor at 237-2400.
Dogs in parks. We continue to have complaints
of dogs unsupervised in parks. It seems to be
common for dog owners to release their dogs at
early and late hours. We have owners who walk
their dogs on leash, as required, but do not clean
up the dog mess. I hesitate to stop all dogs in
parks, on leash or other wise but it could come
to this. We have children playing in the parks
and walking into these piles and it becomes a
mess and a complaint to the city. Please help
your community by supervising your dogs
properly.
Have a great summer and a safe one.

business can join the parade, please call DeLaina

Fire 1 • u
Since people cause most wildfires, we all have a
part in preventing them. We can be more
careful ourselves. And whoever we are and
wherever we are, we can influence others to use
more care with fires.
Remember, a little extra care takes only a few
minutes of your time. And it could prevent a
wildfire.
