HomeMy WebLinkAbout12City of Chubbuck Newsletter Vol. 7 Issue 12 City Hall 5160 Yellowstone / PO Boz Message from the Mayor: December 2012 As we approach the holidays this year our hope is that they will be pleasant for you and that they will be spent with family and friends. At this time of the year many individuals and families look for ways to share with others. There are many worthy organized efforts in our community to assist people in need during the Christmas Season. I hope during this season of giving that you will choose one or more of these efforts to support with your time and or means. The gifts of hope and love are certainly a cherished element of this holiday. We are including in this newsletter information on a family oriented community activity that will be held on the Friday evening before Christmas. It is a way to celebrate without spending a lot of money and yet associating with friends and family as well as getting to know new neighbors. If you want more information about this event, call the individuals listed on this announcement. It sounds like it will be fun. With the onset of winter weather, we again remind you to practice safe winter driving habits and be sensitive to those in your neighborhood that may need a little extra help. Again, we extend our thanks in advance for your patience and courtesy when we have a significant snow event. We have included some safe winter driving tips as well as the city snow policy on our website (ww-'.citvofchubbuck.us) This is a reminder of how we need your cooperation for safe and effi- cient snow removal by City employees and equipment. If you become aware of situations that the City should know about, please contact us at 237-2430. As the end of the year comes with its associated celebrations, we hope you find much to be thankful for. It is a great time to get to know those who are new to your neighborhood and make sure they feel included. As a City, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We appreciate you doing all you can to make Chubbuck even a greater place to live and do business. God bless you and your family this Christmas Season. Mayor England Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! -r y including recycling. The weeks following Christmas ONLY, the City will be collecting extra trash. You may place it by your cart for pickup. We will also collect Christmas trees placed just behind the curb for two weeks following Christmas, but please remove all lights, ornamenttj and stands! A Note From Our Police Department: We live in a very nice community. Unfortunately those who wish to commit crimes are well aware of this fact. They will look for easy opportunities to get what they want. We are reminding citizens to be aware of their property and your neighbors as well. Report any suspicious activity to the Police Department, lock your doors when away, place valuables out of sight, and lock your car doors. On another note, recently we have had temporary vendors come to town selling items. Remember the old saying, "Buyer beware". Sometimes the seller did not get a City business license and products being sold may at first ap- pear to be of good quality then later on it's discovered that the product is not what it was believed to be. If it "looks too good to be true" it likely is. An additional reminder to all about snow removal and parking. Please be courteous to your neighbors and customers by removing snow and ice from walk ways, sidewalks and parking lots. City code (Ord: " 08-28-030) requires owners or renters of properties to provide "all weather passage" to pedestrians, which means you must shovel your snow. Yes! You can be cited for not shoveling your snow! " Additionally, we ask that those who plow, shovel or blow snow into City streets not to do so. Please place your snow on your property and not upon the City street sides. Winter parking becomes a problem when those who park on the streets (legally and illegally) are in the way of snow removal equipment. We ask that citizens park all vehicles off the street if at all possible during winter to fa- cilitate snow removal. If a snow emergency is declared by the Mayor, those who fail to remove their vehicle may have it towed to an alternate location and face paying a tow bill. If we can abide by these laws, we can continue to enjoy this wonderful place to live. You may clarify these codes by going to httn//www.cityofchubbuck us/cpd/codeenforcement aspx or by calling 237-7172 and asking for code enforcement..
