Vol. 4lssue 11
Message from the Mayor:
November 2009
As you are aware, the city election will be held on November 3r`j. We have again provided a list of polling
places on the back of this newsletter. I am running unopposed for a second term in this election. I take very
seriously the responsibility and trust granted to one who holds this office, and I pledge to you that I will con-
tinue to strive to move the city forward with the best of my knowledge, experience and ability. In addition, there
are four candidates running for two city council seats. Please plan to find out about each of them and then vote.
Voting is a great privilege, which we should not take for granted.
The pamphlet we have included in this mailing is an excellent source of information on using a roundabout traf-
fic control structure and explains several benefits. The roundabout at Hiline and Mountain Park Roads should
be open for use soon. We encourage you to read the pamphlet and to contact the city Public Works Depart-
ment, if you have additional questions. If there were enough interest expressed, we would schedule a public
meeting for instruction. As the pamphlet mentions, a roundabout has many advantages, and we appreciate your
cooperation with introducing them into our traffic control system in the city.
I continue to feel privileged to serve as your Mayor. As we head into another winter season, let's all be aware of
those in our neighborhoods who may need some assistance with their winter "chores". I again thank you for
your efforts to make Chubbuck such a great place to live and do business.

On October 28th, Walmart presented the city with a
$5,000 donation check for recycling. Chubbuck
Walmart employees themselves made the donation
possible through a cleanup project.

Also in October, the Idaho Community _
Foundation approved an $8,000 grant from the Ifft
Foundation Fund to complete the beautification pro-
ject that links the city walking path between Hartland
Park and Mary's Park. The original walking path
project through the ravine between Washburn Street
and Brundage Street was made possible just last year
with a $10,000 grant from the same generous local
foundation and hard work done by youth groups
from several churches.
ROUnDR60UT REVIEW
• Slow down.
• Choose your lane carefully according
to the signs and markings.
• Yield to vehicles already in the circle.
• Do not pass large trucks. Stay behind
them.
• Pull over outside the circle for emer-
gency vehicles. Either stop before en-
tering or get out before pulling over.
Try approaching the roundabout the way
you would any intersection. If you want
to turn left or right, you have to choose
the correct lane. You also would not
change lanes in the middle of any inter-
section.

A Note From Our Police Department
Winter in the northwest has ar-
rived, and the Chubbuck Police
Department would like to remind
citizens that parking trailers of
any kind on public streets over 24
hours is illegal (Ord: 08-12-020).
A trailer is then considered aban-
doned if not moved within 24
hours of parking. It does not mat-
ter if it is registered or not, or
whether it is
attached to a
vehicle or not.
Only one oper-
able registered
vehicle per residence may be
parked on public city streets at
any one time for longer than 24
hours in front of a residence.
All vehicles must be vacated
from city streets if a snow emer-
gency is declared by the mayor.
Those who fail to remove their
vehicle may have it towed to an
alternate location and face paying
a tow bill.
Please be courteous to your
neighbors and customers by re-
moving snow and ice from walk-
ways, sidewalks and parking lots.
City code (Ord: 08-28-030) re-
quires owners or renters of prop-
erties to provide "all weather pas-
sage" to pedestrians, which
means you must shovel your
snow. Yes, you can be cited for
not shoveling your snow! You
can also face a citation for plow-
ing, shoveling or blowing snow
into city streets. Please place
snow on your property and not
the street sides.
If we can abide by
these laws, we can
\1 continue to enjoy
this wonderful
place to live. You
may clarify these codes by going
online to the city website at http//
www.cityofchubbuck.us/cpd/
codeenforcement.aspx or by call-
ing 237-7172 and asking for code
enforcement.
