HomeMy WebLinkAbout11City of Chubbuck Newsletter Vol. 6 Issue 11 City Hall 5160 Yellowstone / PO Box 5604237-2400 November 2011 Message from the Mayor: It was exciting to finally have the Grand Opening of the Allstate Insurance Regional Call Center!! We are for- tunate to have them as a major employer in our community. We again recognize the great partnership with Poca- tello and Bannock County as well as Bannock Development and the Governor's Office that assisted in making this possible. Allstate's decision to locate in the Pocatello/Chubbuck Community will make a significant difference not only here but to all of Southeastern Idaho and the entire state. I would again remind you that the most important factor in their decision to locate here was the people and the business climate that already existed here. Thank You!! We would remind you that November 8th is Election Day and that the county now handles the elections. Precinct boundaries and voting locations will be in the Idaho State Journal just prior to Election Day. If you have any ques- tions related to the voting process, you can call the county elections office at 236-7330. The Ambulance Levy is on the ballot for your consideration. Whether or not this ballot measure passes will greatly affect how we are able to handle emergency response in our county. We encourage you to get informed on this critical issue and would also encourage your support. Thanks again for all who participate in moving our community forward. Chubbuck continues to be a great place to live and do business. HOLIDAY GARBAGE PICKUP Garbage pickups will be one day behind the regu- lar schedule following Thanksgiving, November 24th. Thursday pickups will be done on Friday, and the Friday pickups will be done Saturday. °DD 0 Mayor England MEETING NOTICE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Chubbuck City Council of the City of Chubbuck, Idaho, will not be holding its regularly scheduled meeting on No- vember 8, 2011 due to the council chambers being used as a polling place for the general election being held the same day. Friendly Reminder to Medicare Beneficiary's in our Community Your annual enrollment period for the 2012 Medicare Prescrip- tion Drug plans and Medicare Advantage plans has changed. The new dates are October 15, 2011 to December 7,2011, which will become effective January 1, 2012. Please remember to check your plans annually during this enrollment period to see if there have been any changes to your plan's formularies, or any other policy changes that may go into effect.' A Note From Our Police Department: Winter is fast upon us. As the weather turns cold and the snow begins to fly we would like to give a friendly re- minder to all about parking and snow removal. Please be courteous to your neighbors and customers by re- moving snow and ice from walk ways, sidewalks and parking lots. City code (Ord: 08-28-030) requires own- Is ers or renters of properties to provide "all weather pas- sage" to pedestrians, which means you must shovel your snow. Yes! You can be cited for not shoveling your snow! Please place your snow on your property and not upon the city streets. Winter parking becomes a problem when those who park on the streets (legally and ille- gally) are in the way of snow removal equipment. We ask that citizens park all vehicles off the street if at all possible during winter to facilitate snow removal. If a snow emer- gency is declared by the mayor, those who fail to remove their vehicle may have it towed to an alternate location and face paying a tow bill. If we can abide by these laws we can continue to enjoy this wonderful place to live. You may clarify these codes by going to httpHwww.cityofchubbuck.us/cpd/ codeenforeement.aspx or by calling 237-7172 and asking for code enforcement.
