October 2009
Message from the Mayor:
Autumn is in full swing, and we are enjoying a gorgeous Indian Summer. I hope the warm days, cool nights,
changing leaves and final harvest of the garden get a little extension this year. We again hope for a good water year
this winter, but we will enjoy this pleasant fall weather while it lasts.
The Hiline Road project will be mostly completed by the end of October. Because the west bound bridge on I-86
will not be completed until next year, some of the final improvements on Hiline Road may not be completely fin-
ished this year in order to facilitate the removal and subsequent replacement of the bridge structure. We have been
assured, however, that they will leave it so it will make good traffic movement possible during the winter months
until the project is completed. We have greatly appreciated the patience and cooperation of city residents, especially
those who live around the project. When it is finished next year, I am sure it will provide the improved traffic
movement and aesthetics that are anticipated.
As yard projects are completed and we get our property ready for winter, it is important to remember that any
burning requires checking with the fire department. They can provide you with any information, regulations and
permits needed.
I am continually reminded of how grateful I am to live in this place in the world. The best part of living here is the
people. I really appreciate you. Let's all continue to make Chubbuck a wonderful place to live and do business!

.AP*V3""` Come Trunk or Treat
with Chubbuck Police Officers in the Pine Ridge Mall
On Saturday, October 31,
the Chubbuck Police De-
partment will be hosting its
third annual Trunk or Treat.
We will be set up inside the
Pine Ridge Mall with our
patrol cars and treats from
approximately 6:00 PM un-
til the goodies run out.
The officers are looking for-
ward to meeting both kids
and parents at this safe and
fun event. You won't have
to worry about the weather,
and there is plenty of room
for everyone, so come early.
We would like to thank the
Pine Ridge Mall and the
many people who donated
last year for their support.
We got a great response
from both donors and fami-
lies last year. Donations of
candy from any citizen or
business would be wel-
comed.
If you would like more in-
formation, or are interested
in assisting with sponsor-
ship of this
event, please
contact the
police depart-
ment by call-
ing Steve
Young at 237-

SANITATION
SERVICES
Because the city runs its sanitation
service without a profit margin,
providing extra service for no
charge does have an impact on the
budget. When someone calls to re-
quest that the sanitation driver
empty a garbage cart a second time,
extra fuel is used to return to a sin-
gle home in a neighborhood.
During this season of tight budgets,
the city must consider this cost
carefully. In order to be wise with

your dollars, we must make an ef-
fort to enforce the established col-
lection fee for an extra residential
garbage pickup.
Please consider folding cardboard
boxes and any other step that will
help prevent the need for extra ser-
vice. Remember that bagging grass
clippings keeps them from sticking
to the garbage cart and from not
coming out of the cart also.
The last hazardous waste
collection day this season
is Saturday, October 3rd
and the FREE DAY this
fall is Saturday, October
17th. If you have any
questions, call 236-0607.
