Message from the Mayor:
We extend a special thanks to anyone who participated in our Chubbuck Days Celebration this year. The parade and fes-
tival were bigger and better than ever; they were well attended and fun. We have scheduled the 2°a Saturday in August
for next year's celebration, which is August 10, 2013. Put it on your calendar now and plan to participate.
School has started and we would like to remind you to be aware of children and reduced speed limits around the schools.
Speed limits in school zones will be enforced. The school zone signs and flashers at both Chubbuck and Ellis schools
have been programmed to function during the times and days that children may be present and speed should be reduced.
Please be observant in these areas as well as anywhere school children may be. Thank you for this courtesy.
In cooperation with Pocatello, we are encouraging the community to become more aware of and participate with ISU.
Last Monday we had the Fall version of the bi-annual Communiversity event which has been named Welcome Back Or-
ange and Black, because the community welcomes the students back to Idaho State. They will be having the annual "I
Love ISU" scholarship drive in September and the Homecoming Parade will be on September 29th. Last year Mayor Blad
and the City of Pocatello sponsored the tiger paw decals on roads leading to Holt Arena. Area residents and businesses
are invited to participate in putting down more of them this fall. A minimum $150.00 contribution will provide an addi-
tional paw and your name will then be included on a sponsor plaque. Contact Pocatello City Hall if you would like to
participate in this effort. It is such a tremendous opportunity to have a University of the caliber of Idaho State in our
community. We encourage your support. GO BENGALS!!
Fall is a beautiful time of year in our area. As summer concludes and schedules get more demanding hopefully we can
enjoy an extended "Indian Summer". Thanks for helping make Chubbuck such a great place to live and do business.
Mayor England
Note From Our Police Department
The new school year is beginning which means that kids are going to be on the streets
going to school. The Chubbuck Police Department would like to remind drivers that children
can be expected near school zones and streets near schools. Please moderate your speed in school zones and in
neighborhoods, and watch for children.
Parking vehicles at our homes sometimes pose challenges. Some residential developments have small drive-
ways with insufficient space to park between the sidewalk and the garage door. Cars parked on driveways in these
areas usually leave no clearance for the sidewalk causing the vehicle to obstruct the sidewalk. Please consider others
right to "free passage" of the sidewalks by not obstructing sidewalks.
If we can keep these issues in mind and abide by these laws we can continue to enjoy this wonderful place to
live. You may clarify these codes by going to http://www.cityofchubbuck.us/cpd/codeenforcement.aspx or by calling
237-7172 and asking for Code Enforcement.
