HomeMy WebLinkAbout08City of Chubbuck Newsletter Vol. 6 Issue 8 August 2011 Message from the Mayor: It seems as though summer just began and now school is just a few weeks away from starting again. The wetter and colder than usual June has made summer seem abbreviated. We have had enough hot weather to remind us that it is sum- mer though. Chubbuck Days will be the second week in August again this year, with the parade and festival at Cotant Park being the culminating event on Saturday the 13`h. We have devoted the entire back of the newsletter this month to information about Chubbuck Days. We again thank the area businesses as well as individuals and organizations who are assisting in the success of our event this year. Once again Wendy Butler from the city has spearheaded the entire event and Mike Shore of Advantage Plus Credit Union is again in charge of the parade. For those who are long time Chubbuck residents, the name Mary Harker will be very familiar. Mary led a "Chubbuck Pride" committee for many years and kept our city in the spotlight and provided activities when we were struggling to define our identity. Mary and her husband Robert are our Grand Marshalls. A lot of city employees have contributed in various ways and I encourage you to express your ap- preciation as the opportunity presents itself. I would like to remind you of the recommendation from the city water department to those of you who have automatic sprinkler systems. Our heavy use times for watering, according to our water monitoring computer, are 5:00-6:00 AM Monday -Wednesday- & Friday. Our suggestion would be for those with even number addresses to continue on that schedule and those with odd number addresses change to Tuesday -Thursday -Saturday. For those who are able to make this adjustment it should assist us in the providing more effective water management for the city during the heat of the summer. Again we remind all who water to avoid the heat of the day and not water between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Thanks in advance for your cooperation. Enjoy the rest of the summer. Drive carefully in your vacation travels so you can make it safely back to Chubbuck --- A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE AND DO BUSINESS.
