Vol. 3 Issue 7
Message from the Mayor:
July 2008
Greetings! With all there is to do in longer days and good weather, I hope that you will find time for family, friends and neighbors
and that this summer will be full of happy memories for you.
As the 4th of July approaches, let me remind you of a couple of items. First, the city will again jointly sponsor a flag raising and
early morning breakfast with the LDS 9th Ward at the Cotant Park Pavilion the morning of the 4th. The flag raising will begin at
8:00 AM with breakfast following. We have again arranged for it to be a no -cost activity for those who can join us. Second, fire-
works sales are allowed at licensed outlets in the city during the two weeks prior to July 4th. Please, only use legal fireworks in
approved areas, and even then participate with care. Restrictions are there to prevent fires or injuries. Plan to have a "safe and
sane" 4th of July holiday.
The major road project we have going this year involves rebuilding Adams and Lucky Streets to include much needed curb gutter
and sidewalk, closing the Adams Street access to Yellowstone, and rerouting Adams Street to a new roundabout on West Park
Lawn. Work should begin around July Ist and be complete by October Ist. The city made an agreement with the state a few
years ago that we would close Adams, if they would allow West Park Lawn to be built. Because Park Lawn now extends to both
the east and west across Yellowstone, we will be able to provide a traffic signal at that intersection when the traffic warrants it.
Our Chubbuck Days celebration is being planned for Saturday, August 9th. We hope you will plan to spend at least part of your
day involved with the parade and festival at Cotant Park. Watch for additional information over the next few weeks. Have a great
summer, and thanks again for making Chubbuck such a great place to live and do business.

NOTE FROM OUR POLICE DEPARTMENT:
Lately, we have had many ATV's
being ridden on city roads. This is
illegal. Vehicles without proper and
mandatory equipment cannot be
driven on the street. Officers are re-
sponding to these calls, and citizens
are saying that they simply didn't
know this. We would like to spread
the word that these are violations of
state laws and city ordinances.
Vehicles driven on the roadways must
be registered with a license plate, pos-
sess vehicle insurance, and have -
equipment comparable to that of a
car.
It should be further noted, that riding
upon canal banks in the Chubbuck
area is also prohibited by Federal
Law. We are receiving a high num-
ber of complaints from area resi-
dents. As a citizen, it is problematic
due to excessive noise and dust
caused by riders. This problem seems
to be more apparent during the spring/
summer.
Lastly, there is an increase of young
ATV riders in the area. We would
strongly encourage parents to please
prohibit youths from violating these
ordinances.
Our recommendation to riders would
be to load up and visit many of the
scenic areas surrounding our great
city. In addition we would always
recommend the use of authorized
safety equipment and adult supervi-
sion.
