HomeMy WebLinkAbout07The Connection City of Chubbuck Newsletter Vol. 4 Issue 7 Message from the Mayor: July 2009 It seems unusual, given the scenario the past several years, that we are glad to see the rain stop. But, I think most of us are. Given that it is almost July, the daily temperatures will likely climb rapidly. Please remember the cautions and tips associated with hot weather. Water use, pets, air conditioner usage, and drinking plenty of fluids are a few of the things to consider. If you have an elderly neighbor, especially one who lives alone, please be aware of them. Thanks for all you do to be good neighbors. With the 4''' of July being this Saturday, let me remind you of a couple of items. First, the city will again provide an early morning flag raising program. The past two years we have joined with the Chubbuck LDS 9"' Ward at the Cotant Park Pavilion and included an early morning breakfast. Because the 4"' is on a Saturday this year, we m not have the breakfast. The flag raising will begin at 8:00 AM. We will post the location and details along with the reminder on the city reader board on Friday and Saturday morning. Secondly, fireworks sales are allowed at licensed outlets in the city during the two weeks prior to July T". We remind you to please only use legal fireworks in approved areas and, even then, participate with care. Fires or injuries could be the result, if these restrictions and precautions are not heeded. I hope you are all planning to participate with us this year in the Chubbuck Days celebration. The parade and festival are scheduled for Saturday, August 8`''. We are again going to provide a youth dance at the Capell Park Hockey Rink on Friday evening. We have included more information about this event and otherarsivixies this newsletter. This is the 60'' Anniversary of the incorporation of Chubbuck as a city. We are making some special efforts to make this a real fain, exciting and family oriented experience. Bring your friends and neighbors, and we'll see you there. Again, I thank each of you for making Chubbuck such a great place to live and do business. Stay behind them. • Pull over outside the circle for emergency vehicles. Either stop before entering or get out before pulling over. Try approaching the roundabout the way you would any intersection. If you want to turn left or right, you have to choose the correct lane. You also would not change lanes in the middle of any intersection.
