City of Chubbuck Newsletter
Vol. 2 Issue 2 Febritaiy 2007
Message from the Mayor:
I would like to make note of something special that has become available due to the talent and hard
work of one of Chubbuck's long-time residents. Kent Parrish has recently written and published a
song entitled CHUBBUCK, "A Place that Kind of Tugs at Your Heart". Kent, a retired architect, and
Sue, his wife and a retired realtor, are both as mentioned long-time and valued members of our city.
Kent adds this published piece of music to one that he wrote several years ago about Pocatello. Kent
and Sue have donated some copies of the music to the city, and interested persons can get additional
information on them here at the offices. This is just one example of the talent and hard work that
Kent and Sue Parrish have given to our community over the years.
As the Mayor of Chubbuck, I am an ex -officio member of the board of the local Chamber of Com-
merce. I have found over the past year of experience with them that they are very beneficial to our
community. They regularly sponsor activities and promote businesses that enhance greatly the pro-
gressiveness of our area. I encourage our residents to watch for and participate in Chamber activi-
ties, and I encourage our businesses to investigate and consider the advantages of joining the Cham-
ber. Information packets are available at city hall, or the friendly Chamber staff may be contacted at
the Chamber Offices at 233-1525. I have been invited to discuss Chubbuck and its future in the gen-
eral membership meeting to be held at the Red Lion Hotel on Friday, February 211 at noon.
I find that there is much to be encouraged about as I look to the coming year. The announcement of
HOKU Manufacturing building at the Pocatello Airport Industrial Complex with the related jobs and
economic boost is exciting for the entire area. Indications are that this will be just the first of many
new employers that may locate here. Much has been, and will continue to be, accomplished as we
work together as a community to encourage positive and healthy growth. All of this continues to make
Chubbuck a great place to live and do business.

PARK PAVILION RESERVATION FEES HAVE CHANGED
One of Chubbuck's most
popular features is our parks.
While use of any park is al-
ways free to the public, the pa-
vilions/shelters can be reserved
for a fee.
We like to keep our fees as low
as possible. When the $10 fee
was established, very little was
involved in the charge outside
the clerical cost. With the ad-
dition of providing some prac-
tical services and the develop-
ment of some amenities over
time, the old fee was simply
not enough to cover both la-
bor and utilities directly related
to each reservation.
It is important to make sure the
pavilion trash cans are basi-
cally empty when you arrive to
prepare for your event, and
they are emptied when the
event is over. A large event
may even require that a park
dumpster will need emptied an
additional time. The bath-
rooms are checked and are
kept clean, and the pavilions
also have electricity available.
Our crew will clean up messes
left behind by others and make
sure you have access to water
if you request it.
In January, following a public
hearing, the City Council ap-
proved an increase in our park
pavilion/shelter reservation
fees. This year, anyone wish-
ing to reserve a pavilion/shelter
will pay between $30 and $90
depending on a few different
factors.
Reserving a pavilion/shelter for
an entire day ranges between
$75 and $90. Partial day res-
ervations range between $30
and $55. Reservations on
Monday through Thursday are
the least expensive, while
choosing Friday through Sun-
day adds about $10 more.
Evening events will be more
also.
Stuart, Bicentennial or Heri-
tage Park pavilions cost less to
reserve than the Cotant Park
Gazebo. Please remember
that reservations onlv apply to
the pavilion. Other facilities,
such as tennis courts and bath-
rooms, may be used, but not
reserved for a specific group.
To make a pavilion/shelter res-
ervation, just come in to the
Public Works Department at
City Hall. You may call us at
237-2430 to see if the date
you want is available, but we
must have the fee and the
completed form to actually re-
serve the date you choose. It
is on a first come, first serve
basis.
