Message from the Mayor:

City of Chubbuck Newsletter
City Hall 5160 Yellowstone / PO Box 5604 237-2400
April 2012
March weather has been as unpredictable as usual this year. It does give credence to the old adage; "if you don't like
the weather in Idaho, just wait a few minutes and it will change." We hope to get some good rain the next few months
with plenty of sunshine and good weather days in between.
Since we made the decision to provide curbside recycling, the number of customers participating has more than dou-
bled. We still feel the best approach is to make it available on a voluntary basis for those who are willing to pay the
additional $5.00/month fee. We have also increased the number of roll -off containers in the city to 4. Two are located
at the city offices and one at both Chubbuck and Ellis Elementary Schools. It has become necessary to remind and en-
courage those who use the recycle service to make sure that only items that are on the approved list should be put in
these bins. When non -recyclable items are found in the loads taken to the recycle station, they may reject the entire
load. Then it has to be taken to the landfill. Please help us maintain this service by monitoring what is put in the recy-
cle bins and "know what you throw". Lists of approved and unapproved items are available on the collection bins, in
this newsletter, on our website, or at the city offices. Thanks in advance for your help in this matter.
Another reminder as the weather gets warmer and evenings are longer, we again have more children present outside in
our parks and neighborhoods. The speed limit in our residential neighborhoods is 20 MPH. Please be observant not
only of the speed limit but also of children and their unpredictable behavior. Our neighborhood parks are a feature of
our City that was designed to accommodate children playing. Please encourage them to use these facilities rather than
playing games in the street. Safe behavior is a practice that benefits us all.
We hope that you're well underway with plans for a fantastic spring and summer in Chubbuck (or wherever you may
be planning to travel). We're glad to have you as neighbors and hope you agree that Chubbuck is a great place to live
and do business!
