City of Chubbuck Newsletter
Vol. 6lssue 6 City Hall 5160 Yellowstone / PO Box 5604 237-2400 June 2011
Message from the Mayor:
It is our hope that summer weather will soon be here. With all that there is to do in longer days, be sure to find time for
family, friends and neighbors. It is a great time to participate in neighborhood gatherings, share food, fun, and get to
know each other better. There are neighborhood parks in most of our subdivisions that could be used for this purpose. A
few of our larger facilities are available for reservation and a fee. The fee can be waived if it is a neighborhood activity.
Call the city at 237-2430 for available times and dates.
As we come to the end of another school year, we congratulate the graduating seniors and thank those involved with
education in our community. Even though we have faced major challenges, I believe our community is well served.
Again we ask that you be aware of the increased likelihood of children being more prevalent in our neighborhoods and
use additional caution.
We would also encourage responsible pet ownership. Please comply with the ordinances that protect you, your
neighborhood , and your pets. Our animal control personnel can be a great resource for information.
Fireworks sales will begin in the city at the end of June. It is important to only use approved fireworks in approved
areas and even then participate with care. Fires or injuries could be the result if these precautions are not taken. Even
though we have had a cool wet spring, by that time we will most likely be dealing with high risk fire areas. Supervision
of children who participate is a must. With the great time and memories that are available with July 4th activities lets
make sure they are all positive.
We are again planning to have a terrific Chubbuck Days celebration the week ending on Saturday August 13th. We
hope you can plan to spend at least part of that Saturday involved with the parade and festival at Cotant Park. We again
plan to have a dance on Friday evening at the Hockey Arena and perhaps another activity or two leading up to the Satur-
day events. Have a great summer and thanks again for making Chubbuck such a great place to live and do business.

Note From Our Police Department
Household Medication Take -Back Program
The Chubbuck Police Department would like to make everyone aware % W2412
of the new Household Medication Take -Back Program. Beginning •
April 25, 2011, the police department began offering citizens a free,
secure, convenient, and environmentally sound option for the disposal of unused and unwanted house-
hold medications. Proper disposal of prescription medication keeps potential contaminants out of our
water supply and landfill, helps prevent accidental poisonings, and keeps drugs that can be misused
away from those who would abuse them. Citizens will protect our water quality and reduce the poten-
tial for medication mistakes and misuse in the community by participating in
this program. Experts recommend we clean out our medicine cabinet at least
once a year. Simply gather up your unused, unwanted and expired mediations,
take them to the police department, and drop them into the bin. Items accepted
are prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, pet medications, vi -
oiltamins, liquid medication in glass or leak proof containers, and medicated oint-
ments and lotions. Items not accepted are needles or other sharp objects, per-
sonal care products, hydrogen peroxide, aerosol cans, thermometers, IV bags,
and bloody or infectious waste. For more information contact the Chubbuck
Police Department at 237-7172.

Reverse 911 is a telephone communications system used by law
enforcement agencies in Bannock County to notify citizens of
emergency situations which may impact them. The system works by
placing a large number of telephone calls per minute which deliver a
pre-recorded message to landline telephones within a selected
geographic area. Landline telephones in Bannock County are already
set up to receive reverse 911 notifications.
In order to receive reverse 911 notifications on cell
phones and VOIP, you must register your cell phone and/or VOIP
information at the Bannock County 911 Services website, where you
will find a link to "Register Your Cell or VOIP Phone for our Citizen
Notification System (REVERSE 911)". Clicking on the link will take you
to the registration site. The web address for the registration site is
http://www.bannockcounty.us/sheriff/911g. g.htm
You may also register cell phone or VOIP information by accessing the
Bannock County Courthouse Government web site
(www.co.bannock.id.us) and following the link for cell phone and VOIP
registration.
