ORDINANCE NO. 227
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF
CHUBBUCK, IDAHO, DECLARING THE
NEED FOR ADJUSTMENT IN THE SAL-
ARIES OF ELECTED OFFICERS; ES-
TABLISHING THE SALARIES OF THE
MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL; REPEALING CONFLICTING
PROVISIONS OF PRIOR ORDINANCES;
AND PROVIDING WHEN THIS ORDI-
NANCE SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR
AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHUB -
BUCK, IDAHO:
SECTION 1: Declaration. The salaries of
the Mayor and members of the City
Council have not been adjusted since they
were established by ordinance in 1977.
Since that time, inflation has reduced the
value of compensation provided to the
City's elected officials, while the duties of
these officials have increased substantial-
fy as the growth of the community has
placed rising demands upon municipal
government. Salary adjustments are re-
quired in response to these circum-
stances.
SECTION 2: Salaries. From and after the
effective date of this ordinance, the salary
of the Mayor of the City shall be seven
hundred dollars ($700.00) per month, and
the salary of each member of the City
Council shall be three hundred dollars
(8300.00) per month.
SECTION 3: Repeal. From and after the
effective date of this ordinance, all provi-
sions of prior ordinances which conflict
with this ordinance shall be repealed to
the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: Effective Date. The provi-
sions of this ordinance having been dis-
cussed by the City Council, and there
being a need to enact the ordinance 60
days prior to the time fixed for city
elect(on, November 3, 1981, in order to
comply with Idaho Code and timely to
Inform the public, the rule requiring
ordinances to be read on three (3) sepa-
rate occasions is hereby dispensed with
and this ordinance shall become effective
on January 1, 1982, following its passage,
approval and publication as provided by
law.
PASSED BY THE COUNCIL AND AP-
PROVED BY THE MAYOR this 25th day
of August, 1981.
