It is important when submitting official notices for publication that the
newspaper be notified that it is to be published in the prescribed type
size not smaller than 7 point nor greater than 8 point. If the newspaper
photos the notice insist on a reduction to the legal type size.
An examination of official notices appearing
in newspapers
throughout the
state indicates that some
publishers are not
"setting" the
copy to type
to conform to the 8 point
maximum allowed by
law but are "setting"
it in
a larger type size. Some
newspapers are just
photographing
the copy as
submitted for publication
and not reducing it
to the legal
type size.
The following pages contain examples of notices published using an
"illegal" type size and reduced by AIC to show the legal type size.
A copy of HB 592 amending Section 60-105, Idaho Code, effective 10/1/88
and 10/1/89 appears on the back page of this packet.
