The following Commissioners/Assistants were present Tom Davie, Scott Ferro, Todd Hulings, Rick Lopez, Scott Raschke, Jimmy Robinson, Sherman Schmidt, and Gary Winters. Also present Glenn Thor and Danielle Swan, taking minutes of the meeting. Jimmy Robinson, League President, conducted meeting. Jimmy Robinson stated that there was a concern of the number of players for the upcoming season. Several suggestions were stated by the commissioners as possible solutions: capping numbers, using other city parks, putting more children per team, scheduling games 5 nights a week with make-up games on Saturday, or playing double headers. The three best options were: having the City add a new field to be located by the basketball court at Cotant Park, having double header games Monday thru Thursday's with make-up games on Friday's, and purchasing a portable mound. Adding a new field was found to be the best option but would have to be done through the city and having a portable mound was the 2'best option. Further concern for the upcoming season is having enough adequate coaches for the number of children expected to join this year and to remove problematic coaches from last year. It was also discussed to have coaching teams separate so that there will be more experienced coaches coaching and more available coaches. The commissioner over each group will be responsible to have the number of returning coaches available at the January meeting. The commission also wants all coaches in place prior to sign-ups if there are extra coaches they will be asked to assist. Rick Lopez will be the Mustang commissioner, Scott Raschke will be Bronco commissioner, and Sherman Schmidt will be the Pony commissioner. It was mentioned that during the coaches meeting it need be stated to coaches ,especially new coaches, how easy it is to injure a young players aim with pitching. There is a rule protecting players with pitching but the rule only pertains to pitching. If a player is doubling up by pitching and also catching that player is in jeopardy of injury because the player is not resting the arm in between pitching. It was discussed that there were issues with outside fields and umpires from surrounding areas. Starting this season there will be no games played outside of Cotant fields. Also, all registrations will be the same for out of town teams and that Chubbuck Boys League will provide uniforms and equipment for all teams signed up through the City of Chubbuck. There was discussion that there were teams last season that did not follow Chubbuck's white pant rule and decided that this year it will be strictly enforced. All uniforms this year will be numbered consecutively 1-13. Umpires will have a pre-game check list and will meet with coaches 15 minutes prior to game start to make sure that coaches are aware that home team will be in the dugout closest to 3base, that each player must be in full unifoim (hat, jersey, and white pants), no buckets on the field, number of coaches allowed on field, and catchers must be wearing all catchers equipment including a cup. Any team after pre- game meeting with umpire will forfeit the game for violations. All game schedules will be posted on board in concession area for umpires to identify home team. Chubbuck Boys League will have a 7 week season. Registration will be February 23, March 1, and March 8, 2008. Try-outs will be April 1 & 2, with Pony drafts on April 1 and Mustang/ Bronco drafts April 2'. Season start will be April 14th and season end will be June 7th. End of season tournament will start June 9th and end June 21st. Chubbuck Classic will be June 26th -28th. Volunteers to run and help assist Chubbuck Classic are Sheiman Schmidt and Rick Lopez. Sherman Schmidt will prepare the flyers and have them ready to be mailed by January. Flyers will state that the tournament will follow Pony Rules, there will be home run derby, Fast pitch, base running, tournament will be for players 9-14 years of age, that birth certificates copies must be with coaches at tournament for all players on team, if registering before June lst the fee is $200 and June 1st or after the fee will be $250, checks are to be made out to the City of Chubbuck, and to come play on the best fields in Idaho.
