Regular Meeting of Commissioners
February 19, 2004
A regular meeting of the baseball Commissioners was called to order in the City of Chubbuck Council
Chambers 7:21 p.m. with prior notice sent to the Commissioners.
The following Commissioners/Assistants were present David Acevedo, Mark Buffat, Coy Bowman,
Doug Burrows, Tom Davie, Scott Ferro, Scott Gross, Clay Gummersal, Fred Lewis, Brent Stenersen,
Tony Williams, and Gary Winters.
Also present was Danielle Madsen, taking minutes of the meeting.
Brent Stenersen, League President, conducted meeting.
Minutes from January 22, 2004 approved by David Acevedo and seconded by Doug Burrows.
It was mentioned that Elton Young and Shane Standley will not be league commissioners this year.
Coy Bowman will also be leaving June 16, 2004 but will serve up until that time. Dee Burwell will be
replacing Elton Young and Jimmy Robinson, if he accepts will be replacing Shane Standley.
Sign-ups will be March 27th and April 3'1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Discussion of Mustang lead was that no lead off teaches better baseball principles and that if they are
allowed to lead of that once they move up they are behind. Voted 6 to 3, there will be no change,
there will be no lead off. Discussion of cannot run on drop 31d strike was that it gives the children no
incentive to catch the ball. Voted 7 to 2, will not run on a drop 3rd strike.
It was voted on and passed that the league follow Pony rules. It was discussed that coaches sign a
sheet stating that they have read the rules and except them. No decision was made to have sign sheet.
Discussion that no games after 8:00 p.m. prior to May 15. Games need to be complete in 2 hours.
Make up games could be on Saturdays. Voted on and passed that no innings start after 8 until May 15.
If the required number of innings have not been played then the game will be suspended.
It was noted that there is a need to enforce pitching cards, score books need to be turned in after each
game. Home team supplies book with one book per field. Pitching cards be signed by the opposing
coach.
It was discussed that there needs to be a meeting with representatives from outline area teams. That all
outline area teams in the league be required to pay full price and to bring their fields up to standards. It
was also noted that money also need to be paid prior to start of season. American Falls is behind and
needs to pay for last year also prior to start of season.
It was discussed that there be an amendment to rule #74 add : D.) Any coach ejected from a game
shall be suspended from coaching and his/her teams next scheduled game unless a written petition is
filed by the ejected coach with the commission prior to the next scheduled game. The commission shall
have discretion to lift the mandatory suspension after considering the ejected coaches petition if a
written petition is filed with the commission. The effected coach shall have the right to continue to
coach until the commission hears and rules on the ejected coaches petition. The time will be at the sole
discretion of the commission. This will be discussed and voted on at next meeting.
It was noted that the City will make decision on granting of scholarships and if there will be family
discounts.
