HomeMy WebLinkAbout06 08 1977 MUNICIPAL IMPROVEMENTS & SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD
MINUTES - June 8, 1977
The meeting was called to order at 7:34 p.m.
''► Members in attendance: Dean Renfrow, Dave Higbee, Pat Collard, Kitty Sheehy
and Myrna Cain.
John Sheehy presented plans on Chubbuck Days. Need people to take charge
of booths and people to help in general . Rosie Anderson is willing to help
on some booths. We need more advertising on the dance and other events that
will be held. John Sheehy will take care of publicity and Jaycees the games.
Our biggest problem is getting the people interested in helping and supporting
our functions. John Sheehy has been trying to get in touch with the mayor
to see if it would be possible to have some kind of publicity on the water
bills or in a newletter.
Kitty Sheehy made the motion that we have a "Pride in Chubbuck" slogan contest
in conjunction with Chubbuck Days. Was seconded by Dean Renfrow. Was un-
animously voted for.
Florence Frost reported on the recent bike rodeo. Her husband will write
a written report and bring it to our next meeting. She also brought back
information on the city directory we were interested in putting out. Include
dates of the meetings that are held by different city committees and civic
clubs.
Dave Higbee made the motion that we recommend to the city council that we
order 1000 Chubbuck city information books. Kitty Sheehy seconded the motion.
Motion passed. We would like a reply from the city council before our next
meeting in July if possible.
Florence has put in an application with welcome wagon and she wants to dis-
tr:ibuteinformation on Chubbuck instead of Pocatello - such as a letter from
mayor, parks, city offices, etc. This is still in the talking stages. If
this were to come about possibly one of the city information books could be
distributed this way to new comers or else be handed out when people new to
the city have their water turned on.
Dave Higbee presented a slide presentation showing the need for bicycle trails
in our city. He took pictures while driving thru our city. After reviewing
the slides HELP! ! ! ! We discussed the bicycle ordinance we had given to
the city before and wondered if any action had ever been given to it. If not,
we would like a reply. It was given to the council January 20, 1976.
We need more maintenance of our park areas, such as dandelion spraying.
Meeting adjourned at 9:50 p.m.
