MINUTES , July 20, 1976
Meeting started - 7:10 p.m.
Conducted by - Dave Higbee
Those in Attendance: Dave Higbee, Dorothy Lee Worley and Councilman Boyd
Fulmer
Excused: Bill Armstrong, Myrna Cain and Richard Allen
ITEMS DISCUSSED: Meeting held on June 29th. Discussed - concerning sidewalks
on Hawthorne Road. Sidewalks were postponed at this time, due to lack of
support from area residents in the Stuart Area.
Mayor Cotant suggested the use of school crossing guards - (Students) - to help
the children to cross safely and walk along road correctly. Possibly offenders
would be required to write a 500 word theme.
Safety Committee - recommendation of also another Safety Poster Contest -
centered around the idea of street safety; and respect of privatelprppey.
Chairman Dave Higbee contacted Mr. Boyd Heider, School Board Chairman, about
School Guards - He will check and report to Mr. Higbee.
Discussed - Entering Float in the Bicentennial Parade or a Booth in the Park
Celebration. Special meeting to be held 7:00 p.m., Thursday July 22, 1976 at
Mrs. Morley's home, 420 Buffaloe.
Discussed - request by Mayor Cotant of Traffic Safety and Beautification
Committee accepting additional responsibilities in the Parks and Recreation
area. Chairman felt a poll of committee members should be taken. ( To be
taken July 22nd at special meeting.)
Also recommend the City Police Department be prepared to handle traffic for
the Bicentennial Parade August 7th at 11:00 a.m. ( City Council should
notify police department.)
