November 20, 1974
Meeting started: 7:00 P.M.
Conducted by: Dave Higbee,Committee Chairmen
Excused were: Phil Rumsey, and William Armstrong
Those in Attendance were: Dave Higbee, Richard Allen, Gary Lewis, Myrna Cain,
and Councilmen; Dwaine Kinghorn and Earl Romriell.
Minutes of the last meeting were approved as mailed.
Business items were discussed from last meeting; these included:
1. As a matter of safety of children playing in street & safety slogans,
it was discussed to have Myrna Cain head a committee to contact the
principals of Chubbuck & Tyhee schools, for help from the schools in a
safety slogan contest. Posters will be made by students and each
grade will be judged seperatly. One grade each week to cover a six
week time span. Winners will be printed in the Idaho State Journal,
if they will participate, and final winners will receive an award
presented by city merchants. Details will be handled by the
committee headed by Mrs. Cain.
2. SCHOOL BUS`'STOP AREAS: Mr. Gary Lewis presented a list of the
school bus ; stops of each route. These were given to the city
council members, along with a list of the locations where the
city should consider as sites to improve. It was suggested the
more heavily traveled roads be given top priority.
NEW ITEMS ON THE AGENDA:
1. The new manuals on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, ordered
by the city, were presented to members of the committee. The
Manuals were discussed, and the committee urges the City Council
to adopt the Manuals. It was suggested the City could contact
Mr. Phil Romsey of the I.T. D. Division of Hiways for help in pre-
paring the ordinance to adpot the Manual.
2. The city council members present, asked Dave Higbee to prepare a
list of signs & supplies for future use by the city, also any re
ccomended updating of signing in the city. Mr. Higbee said he
would do this as time permitted.
3. The Committee was pleased with the new school crossing on
Hawthorne Road, however, it was noted the City Council needs to
adopt a special law to create a school speed limit zone fo the
area. Also the committee:recomends the city notify residents of
the area df the yellow walk zone, not to park on the walkzzone.
It was suggested the city install several, "NO PARKING 8:30 A.M.
to 4:30 P.M." Signs in the area of the walk zone.
Next meeting of the committee was set for 17th of December, 1974 at 7:00P.M.
in the city offices.
