HomeMy WebLinkAbout09 17 1974 S., MINUTES OF THE TRAFFIC SAFETY AND BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE September 17, 1974 Meeting started: 7:10 P. M. Conducted by: Richard Allen, Committee Secretary Excused from meeting were Chairman Dave Higbee, due to sickness, Phil Rumsey, District Traffic Engineer, due to prior committments. Those in attendance were: Richard Allen, Myrna Cain, Dorothy Lee Worley and William Armstrong. Visiting were Mr. Dean Worley and Officers Arnold Stone and Jerry Rowland of the Chubbuck Police Force. Minutes of last meeting were approved as mailed. MATTERS DISCUSSED IN THIS MEETING WEEE: 1. Radar unit and operator will be supplied by local police to help in traffic speed limit studies. 2. Parking problem on U. S. 91, City Council will be asked to sign a No Parking Zone on the Northeast side of U. S. 91 around curve in frott of Golden West Auto. Also signs be put in front of Kennedy's allowing only single car parallel parking for south bound cars only. 3. To chickwith City of Pocatello and work out a system of approaches from New Industrial Park on to U. S. 91. 4. Junk Cars and weed control was discussed with City. Police Officers providing the committee with the abandoned car ordinance and noted that the committee could obtain the Weed Control Ordinance from the city office during working hours. 5. Committee members were asked to bring Safety Slogans to next meeting. so they may be broadcast by local news media. 6. Having the city crew shoulder stripe and center line strip , Hawthonne, Chubbuck and Siphon Road as soon as possible for safety reasons. 7. Children playing in the street: Several possible solutions were discussed such as on education programs for parents and children of the danger of playing in the street; also maybe to cite the parents of the children who are playing in the streets. Committee members will talk to citizens, and in our next meeting a solution 9 will be reached to present to the city council. 8. Members were asked to talk to citizens and come prepared to turn over a solution to the problem of the Railroad crossing on East Chubbuck Road to the city council. Next meeting was set for October 15, 1974 at 7:00 P. M. in the city offices on Yellowstone. All interested citizens are invited to attend. Richard R.
