Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of
Chubbuck~ held in the Municipal Building of the Village of Chubbuck, on
March 9, 1965
Present- Ward, Underwood, Christensen, Hillman and B. A. McDevitt.
Absent-Worsencroft, excused for illness.
Called to order: 8:03 P.M.
Minutes of the last regular meeting read and approved as read.
Bills for month presented to Board. Motion to approve payment made by
Christensen~ seconded by Hillman. All in favor.
Financial and Police reports for month presented to Board.
Pocatello Jaycee's Application for Beer License presented to Board. Tabled
for the time being.
Water to Bannock County Fair Grounds - Brennan to ~ead meter and Clerk will
send bill.
Cast Iron Pipe- Brennan reported there is some on order and will be here soon.
Letter from Worsencroft- regarding his resignation as Chairman of Board read
in full by Clerk. Board decided to take no action at this time. Letter on file.
Law and Law Enforcement- Rex Christensen was present and stated to the Board
that the Community as a whole needs to support our local Law and Law Enforcement.
There has been some trouble with teenagers in the past 2 years. After a long
discussion the Board all agreed they would be willing to help if Christensen
can get a committee organized to study the problem and make suggestions for
the solution to the problems. McDevitt stated that what is needed is sure, quick
punishment and parent cooperation. All agreed this project needs con~nunity backing.
Uniform Building Code- Board all agreed to have the Ordinance adopting the
Uniform Building Code, ready for reading at the next regular meeting.
Street Dept. Employee- Hensley reported that Harris had asked for Friday the
19th of February off so he could go to Salt Lake City. That particular week-end
was then a B-day Holiday as Washington's Birthday was on Monday. Harris had stated
that he had worked overtime and should have some time coming. Hensley asked if
this was possible as he understood that Harris was working by the month, the same
the other employees of the Village. After discussion Board all agreed that time
off is not accumulative, and that when hlred~Harris was to work 6 days a week,
and be subject to call at anytime.
Shootin guns in Village- Underwood reported that m~uy people and especially
teenagers are shhoting guns along Hiline Road and along the Canal. He is afraid
someone will get hurt. Board all agreed that we have an Ordinance prohibiting this
and they will back the ~olice Officers in enforcing the ~rdinance.
International Conference of Building Officials* Ward asked about the Village
applying for membership in this Org&nization. Fee is according to population,
and for the Village it would be $~0.OO per year. Motion to apply for membership
made by Htllman~ seconded by Underwood. All in favor. Clerk will fill out
application form.
Sewer- Ward stated that L. H. Ballif will make a preliminary study to determine
the high and low spots of the Village, and make recommendations for disposal, for
a cost of approximately $5OO.OO. If we do go ahead with a bond issue for this
project this cost of the survey would be included in this issue. Board all agreed
that we have to start someplace. Motion to authorize Ward to contact Ballif and
have him proceed with the project of survey, made by Underwood, seconded by
Christensen. All in favor.
