HomeMy WebLinkAbout11 10 1977 CMCOUNCIL MEETING MINUTES November 10, 1977 295 Minutes of a special meeting of the mayor and council held in the city municipal building November 10~ 1977. Present: Mayor John O. Cotant, Jr., Councilmen Boyd L. Fullmer, Earl L. Romriell and Clerk Vera Armstrong. Councilman Wayne Taylor excused. Purpose of special meeting is to canvas the November 8 election results. Meeting called to order at 4:45 p.m. by Mayor Cotant. Ballot box was unlocked and the ballots, poll book and tally book were removed. Mayor Cotant opened the sealed envelope containing a tally book, election record and poll book, used ballot pads plus pad with the first unused ballot of the city Municipal Election held November 8, 1977. Mayor and council checked Election Record and Poll Books, Combined Tally Lists and Official Records Books, ballots and ballot pad with the first unused ballot. After a thorough canvas of the Election Record and Poll books, the Combined Tally Lists and Official Recrds Books, ballots and ballot pad with the first unused ballot Councilman Kinghorn moved the council accept the election results of the November 8, 1977 election as tallied. Councilman Fullmer seconded motion with an unanimous vote in favor. Tabulation of the votes were as follows: John O. Cotant, Jr. - 650 votes for mayor; Earl R. Cluff - 149 votes for councilman~ DeWitt Howell - 183 votes for councilman; LeRoy S. Quick - 336 votes for councilman; Earl L. Romriell - 467 votes for councilman; Cluff R. Underwood - 203 votes for councilman; Ray Whitaker - 41 votes for councilman; William Dean Wood - 212 votes for councilman. There were eighty two write in votes for mayor and seven write in votes for councilman. Meeting adjourned at 5:20 p.m. Vera C. Armstrong, City Clerk
