Minutes of a special meeting of the mayor and council held in the
city municipal building November 7, 1979.
Present: President of Council Dwain A. Kinghorn, Councilmen Boyd L.
Fullmer, LeRoy S. Quick, Earl L. Romriell and Mayor John O. Cotant, Jr.
from 5:05 until meeting adjourned. Also City Clerk Vera C. Armstrong.
Meeting called to order at 4:50 p.m. by President of Council Dwain A.
Kinghorn.

CANVAS OF ELECTION RESULTS - The election was for two councilmen for four
year terms. Ballot box was unlocked and the poll book and tally book
removed. The sealed envelope containing a tally book, election record
and poll book, used ballot pads plus pad with the first unused ballot
was opened. Council checked election record and poll books, combined
tally lists and official record books and ballots and ballot pads.
After a thorough canvas Of the election records, Councilman Romriell
moved to accept the tabulation of votes prepared by the election judge
and clerks and proclaim the results as final. Councilman Quick
seconded motion with an unanimous vote in favor.
Tabulation of the votes are as follows: Becky Hopkins=273 votes;
Dwain A. Kingorn=348 votes; Michael R. Metcalfe:248 votes, Abe Z.
Riggs=lO0 votes; Richard R. Allen=244 votes; Robert K. Broadhead
=250 votes. Boyd Fullmer:l; Rusty Barlow=l; George (Al) Steinmetz
:1; Kent J. Parrish=l; and Dean Renfrow =l vote.
Councilman Quick moved, Romriell seconded with full council approval J
that meeting adjourn at 5:20 p.m.~ ~z~~
