RESOLUTION - WATER RATES - Amending the rates to be charged by
the City for water furnished though the Municipal Water
System.
Mayor Cotant explained proposed rates, then asked for comments
from residents present. Mayor Cotant stated, with State and
Federal Mandates coming down, rates will have to increase.
Darrel Burrows, 302 Adams said he was against lowering the
volumetric rate, and raising the base rate. PWD Smart stated,
when water is not sold, for one reason or another, the city
does not take in the revenue it might have projected. Adopting
the increased base rate, with lower volumetric rate should
correct this problem.
Robert Tauscher, 541 Bluebird suggested the city find a way
to bill the vacant lots in the city, this will lower the bill
for everyone in the city. The only way to collect these type
of bills are on taxes the following year.
Bill Armstrong, 128 Briscoe said he would be in favor of $9.00
or $10.00 base, and 45 cents per thousand gallons.
Mayor Cotant suggested we do not go too low on the volumetric
rate, because we are in a drought season, we want to encourage
conservation.
