Restaurant/Arcade, 224/230 E. Chubbuck Road.
New business approval.
Present: Mayor John O. Cotant, Attorney Tom Holmes, Steve Smart, Jerry Rowland, Merlin
Miller, Ray Griffin, Eric King, Ron Conlin, Jim Phelps and Larry Kohntopp.
Gary Ratzlaff, Ratzlaff Architects was present representing Restaurant/Arcade, Idaho Falls. Mr.
Ratzlaff presented a proposed site plan for a new restaurant/arcade business proposed to
locate at 224/230 E. Chubbuck Road.
Gary Ratzlaff stated the owner did not have a problem with installing an acceleration lane in
return for less parking spaces than code requires. The owner felt, based on his two other
business in Idaho Falls, the business will not need the required amount of parking spaces.
Mr. Ratzlaffwas told he can ask the City Council to waive the required parking spaces.
Considerable discussion about the site plan.
Mr. Ratzlaffwas told there will be only one access, with a good radius allowed.
After discussion, Mr. Ratzlaff said he will ask the Council for a waiver of parking spaces, go back
and draft a new site plan reflecting the items discussed:
1. One access only.
2. Rearranging parking lot with diagonal parking spaces instead of straight in and out.
3. Possible rearrange the sanitation dumpster to allow a clearing entrance to the business.
