HomeMy WebLinkAbout03 24 1970 CMMinutes of the recessed meeting of March lA, 1970 of the Mayor and Council of the City of Chubbuck, held in the city office on March 24, 1970. Present: Cotant, Leslie, Romrielt and Thompson. Absent: Taylor. Meeting with Country Acres Additions started at g:O0 P.M. Mayor presented plans they have for. a clean-up campaign, preferable for Saturday mornings and the city will help with any equipment we have. He then asked for suggestions and complaints from residents. Gary Brown complained about speeding on Hawthorne and Bonanza. ~iould like street lights on Bonanza and Hawthorne and perhaps Victor. Street repair also needed on Bonanza. Residents from Tahoe Place Street asked for street signs to be put up. They also expressed that they feel metering is unfair to residents and they will be unable to afford water to plant la~ns this spring. Leslie suggested that Chubbuck Road west and Hawthorne Road should be 25 M.P.H. and stated that radar is needed to enforce speeding. Thompson also suggested that 15 m.p.h. signs be put in some residential areas. He asked if they thought using reflectorized signs would help and suggested that signs be put up informing drivers they were enter- in? the City of Chubbuck and that speed limit is strictly enforced. Water - Thompson explained that the council would like to average out meter rates for one year to see how they compare with flat rates. He stated that we cannot change ordinance right now. Perhaps by June or July if water bills are running too high we might be able to discount bills to help get lawns in without too much expense. Tahoe street residents asked if they could be put on flat rate. Leslie explained that the growth in this area could bankrupt this city, this was the idea of meters in the first place but he would ~avor flat rates for all until the largest percent of the city was metered. Leash Law - Some residents expressed desires for leash law. Mayor explained the councils plans of enforcing the present ordinance. ~omriell suggest that we go house to house on dog licensing and catching. Allen Martin from Neider Addition mention that street repair is badly needed on Boyd Street. Discussio~ of this followed. Sewer Project - Leslie reported that two gentlemen from HUD were in the city today. They feel the engineering planning and specifications are still inadequate. We need to submit more data for our application. Building Permit Fees - After discussion on building permit fees, Romriell made motion we adopt new building permit fee rates. Dennis seconded. Ail in favor. Thompson suggested t?!at the council be informed of all building permits issued. Ail in favor that this be done. Water Hook-Up - Mayor suggest increase on hook-ups to $175.00 on 3/g" line and $200.00 on 1" line within the city and $200.00 on 3/4" line and $225.00 on 1" line outside city limits. After discussion Thompson made motion we increase the ordinance to the above mentioned rates. Romriell seconded. Ail in favor. Wages - Mayor mentioned Vera Armstrong had asked for a raise in wages and he felt she should be given at least a 25~ per hour raise to a salary of $225.00 per month. Rom~iell made motion to this effect and all were in favor. Mayor read letter of application for building inspector from Kent Parrish. Short discussion on this subject followed.
