HomeMy WebLinkAbout01 21 1970 CMThe council of the city of Chubbuck reconvened at 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday January 21, with Mayor Cotant and councilmen, Leslie and Romriell present. Mr. Thompson joined approximately 8:30 and councilman Taylor called stating he would be out of town. The mayor reviewed the changes that have been made in the city since the meeting of January 15. 1. Members of the volunteer fire department cleaned the fire station and the Snake River Mutual fire truck was returned from the city garage to the fire station. 2. Police chief Hensiey has been released from any assignment in the city other than that of police chief. 3. Ail overtime to city employees has been ordered discontinued. Ail employees have been instructed to fill out a daily time card. 5. Mrs. Valenty has been instructed to acquaint Mrs. Armstrong with all work and procedure in the city office. 6. As per council recommendation Mr. Jordan Stuart has been hired as of the 15th of January to be City maintenance superintendent. After some discussion the meeting recessed until Tuesday, January 27th at 8:00P.M. The meeting again convened Tuesday January 27 at 8:00 P.M. with the mayor and all councilmen present. Some review concerning the activities of the past two weeks was given by the mayor. Mr. James Cates, an applicant for city police patrolman was present and interviewed by the council. The mayor advised that he has a meeting with the volunteer fire crew Wednesday, January 28, in the fire station. It was suggested by the council that the firemen be instructed to furnish the council with minutes of their meetings. The council agreed that the mayor could decide as to Bow the fire department is to be managed. Dennis Leslie explained the problem with our application for sewer system stating that apparently our original application is in error and has been made to the wrong agency for the wrong amount of money. Mr. Leslie is already working with city engineer Mr. Les Ballif on a new application. The city gasoline contract was discussed and also the problem the police are having using the contract gasoline. The mayor reported a conversation with Mrs. Bellangee wherein he was shown receipts from American Oil as having delivered the last several loads of gasoline to Triangle Service. This is to be reviewed at next meeting. Councilman Taylor reviewed the police situation and application forms were reviewed. We have 6 applicants at the present time. Councilman Thompson discussed the situation on Burley drive as request has been made to the city to repair that street. Mr. Thompson reviewed the history of that area and this will again be discussed by the council as to what can be done in this area. Mr. Thompson asked that new garbage collection times be advertised in the paper a second time. Councilman Earl Romriell reported that all graveled streets belonging to the City have been graded and that several of the non-dedicated streets had been repaired. These repairs are temporary measures. Mr. Romriell discussed the possibility of the city purchasing a Back-hoe. After some discussion it was decided to have the clerk make a thorpugh 'study of the cost t~ the city for the use of this type of equipment for the past several years.
