On <br />CITY OF CHUBBUCK, IDAHO <br />J ORDINANCE NO. 740 <br />2196358 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CHUBBUCK, IDAHO, PROVIDING, IN <br />ACCORDANCE WITH IDAHO CODE § 50-707 FOR THE DESIGNATION OF <br />SEATS HELD BY EACH CITY COUNCILMAN; PROVIDING FOR THE ELECTION <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL BY ODD NUMBERED SEATS BEGINNING WITH THE <br />GENERAL ELECTION IN NOVEMBER OF 2015 AND EVEN NUMBERED SEATS <br />WITH THE GENERAL ELECTION IN NOVEMBER OF 2017; REPEALING PRIOR <br />CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; PROVIDING FOR THE SEVERABILITY OF THE <br />PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE; AND PROVIDING WHEN THIS <br />ORDINANCE IS EFFECTIVE. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />CHUBBUCK, IDAHO: <br />Section 1. Adoption of Section 2.08.050 of the Chubbuck Municipal Code. The <br />following Section 2.08.050 is hereby adopted and made a part of the Chubbuck Municipal Code: <br />2.08.050: ELECTION OF CITY COUNCIL: <br />A. Size and Term of Council. The city council shall be four (4) in number, designated <br />by seat in accordance with sub -paragraph B and elected at large. Each member shall serve for a <br />term of four (4) years <br />B. Designation Of Council Seats: <br />Prior to the city council election in November 2015, each council seat <br />shall be numbered as allowed by Idaho Code § 50-707. The city clerk shall <br />assign the following numbers to each seat: seat 1, seat 2, seat 3, and seat 4, <br />with seats 1 and 3 being assigned to the Council members up for election <br />in November, 2015 and seats 2 and 4 being assigned to the Council <br />members up for election in November, 2017. <br />2. Any candidate seeking election to the city council shall designate the seat <br />sought on the petition for candidacy. A candidate can file for only one <br />council seat. The candidate shall meet all other qualificatiori.s for the office <br />of city council member, as required by law. <br />Commencing at the general city election to be held in November 2015, <br />seats 1 and 3 shall be the council seats for which city council candidates <br />may file. Commencing at the general city election held in November 2017, <br />seats 2 and 4 shall be the council -seats for which city council candidates <br />may file.
