HomeMy WebLinkAbout0215 Parking 1980 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CHUBBUCK, IDAHO, PROHIBITING PARKING IN THE TRAVELED PORTION OF A ROADWAY; MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO PARK IN A ROADWAY OR STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY OTHER THAN CLOSE TO AND PARALLEL WITH THE EDGE 'OR ]CURB.OF.~ROABWAY HEADED IN THE DIRECTION OF LA~FUL TRAFFIC; PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OFPERMITS FOR LOADING OR UNLOADING AT AN ANGLE TO THE RAODWAY; MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO VIOLATE THE TERMS OF SUCH PERMITS; AND PROVIDING WHEN THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BECOM~ EFFECTIVE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHUBBUCK, IDAHO: SECTION 1: Parking in traveled way. It shall be unlawful to stand or park a vehicle in the traveled portion of a roadway. SECTION 2: Parking on roadway. It shall be unlawful for any person to stand or park a vehicle in a roadway, outside the traveled portion, other than parallel with the edge or curb of the roadway, headed in theldirection of lawful traffic movement and with the edge or curb-side wheels of the vehicle within twelve inches (12") of the edge or curb of the roadway, except as otherwise provided in this ordinance. SECTION 3: Parking on right-of-way. It shall be unlawful for any person to stand or park a vehicle on any street right-of- way, including that portion off the roadway, other than parallel with the edge of the roadway headed in the direction of lawful traffic movement, except that this provision shall not prohibit angle parking on property adjoining the street right-of-way. SECTION 4: Permit for Loading or Unloading at an Angle to the Roadway (A) The City Engineer is authorized to issue letter permits for backing of vehicles to the curb in order to load or unload merchandise or materials, subject to the terms and conditions of such permits. Such permits may be issued either to the owner or lessee of real property or to the owner of the vehicle and shall grant to such person the Privilege as therein stated and authorized herein. (B) It shall be unlawful for any permitee or other person to violate any of the special terms or conditions of any such permit. SECTION 5: Effective Date. This ordinance shall become effective upon its passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
