Kitty Sheehy wondered how we work on Parks and Recreation with no funds???
Mr. & Mrs. John Frost, (Florence), from the Jaycee's came to talk about the bicycle
safety program. Tentatively it will be held around the middle of May. Mr.
Layne said he would like to have the track left all the time. Kids could use
it after schoorlhours. The track would be painted on the play ground. Mr. Frost
said if we use the school we will have to have School District #25 okay. WE would
include Tyhee kids too, but only have the one track set up. Mr. Frost will set
this up as long as we give him the money we have available for this. Our committee
will do the judging for the poster contest that will be done in the schools during
the safety classes to be given before the Bike Rodeo is held.
Mrs. Florence Frost presented her questions on how to put together a city directory
book. She said her interest in doing this came about on her learning about
Chubbuck. Kitty Sheehy made the motion that we give Florence Frost permission to
check into the costs of putting together a city directory for the Chubbuck area.
Seconded by Dave Higbee.
Portneuf Library is the district headquarters for the library region. Anna Green,
regional administrator for South East Idaho and Doris Lymen from the library came
to tell of some of their needs. Anna Green wondered if we might be interested in
helping with some more landscaping around the building such as trees. Doris Lymen
wondered if we might help with better signs in locating the library, alsopublicity
about its location. Mayor Cotant suggested that they get in contact with the
Lions Club and Mr. Larry Call, who does landscaping, :7 for some help. Pat Collard
asked Bill Armstrong and Boyd Fullmer to check into this for our committee and the
Library.
Mr. Kent Ellis for Bicentennial Park thanked the committed for its complimentary
invitation to come to our meeting. The drawing he did to give us an idea of
equipment for the Bicentennial park comes to $3,172.00 including freight.
Kitty Sheehy presented Chubbuck Days in a letter from John Sheehy. It is enclosed
with the minutes. We decided on August 5 and 6 for the dates for Chubbuck Days.
