HomeMy WebLinkAbout01 12 1965 CMgo Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Chubbuck, held in the Municipal Building of the Village on January 12 1965. Present- Ward, Underwood, Hillman, Chris:�enden, and B. A. McDevitt. Absant- Worsencroft, excused due to illness. Called to order 8:00 P.M. r Minutes of the last Regular and one recessed meeting read and approved as read. First order of Business: Public Hearing on the question of making a general tax levy for the Village of Chubbuck for the current fiscal year in an amount of not to exceed twenty -five mills on each dollar of assessed valuation of all taxable property in said Village. No protest. Ordinance # 64, "Appropriation Bill of 1965" was then read in full by Valenty. Motion to read once in full, and twice by Title, thus suspending the rules, then made by Hillman, seconded by Underwood. Roll Call Vote for suspension of rules as follows: Underwood- yes,Hillman -yes, Christensen -yes, and Ward -yes. Ordinance # 64 then read twice by Title by Valenty. Roll Call Vote for passage of Ordinance # 64, as follows: Underwood -yes, Hillman -yes, Christensen -yes, Ward -yes. Bills for the month presented to Board. Motion to approve payment of bills made by Underwood, seconded by Hillman. All in favor. Financial and Police reports for month presented to Board. Financial, Budget, and Police reports for past fiscal year presented to Board. Street Lights- Contract with Idaho Power Co. for street lights has expired and a new Contract was presented to Board. Motion to approve new Contract with Idaho Power Co. for street lights made by Hillman, seconded by Underwood. All in favor. Larry Davis reports- Davis stated that the Village should be getting revenue from the sale of Car License Plates sold to Village residents. This revenue comes back to the Village through Highway User's Revenue and is based on population. He attended a meeting of Regional Chambers of Commerce and stated that they have a representative in Boise at all times during the session of the Legislature and will keep municipalities ,...:, informed on any Legislation pertaining to Municipalities. He further stated that he had talked with School Board Members and they are looking for lots in Chubbuck for future school buildings. One to be a Grade School and another to be a Junior Hi- School. Parrish Drive and Sanitation Ordinance - Rod Parrish stated that they have 25 rental units and request that they be classed commercial instead of residential. A long discussion followed. Board advised him that they can make no exceptions without amending the Ordinance, and the final decision was a motion made by Christensenthat Parrish Drive is residential and that it remain residential. Motion seconded by Hillman. All in favor. It was also stated that all back bills are to be collected. Rodney Parrish requested that the record show that he thinks this is an "Unjust Decision ". Jim Chastain- Asked if the Board had considered any repayment for the Hawthorne Road Main Waterline. Since we had no figures present a motion was made by Underwood that we get the figures, and see how much we can pay and make monthly payments to get this paid off. Motion seconded by Christensen. All in favor. Idaho Municipal League- Letter of advantages read by Clerk. After discussion a motion to join the Idaho Municipal League was made by Hillman, seconded by Underwood. All in favor. League dues for 1965 are $127.20 for Village of Chubbuck. Intermountain Chevrolet- Bills for repairs to Police Car that is rented from them were discussed and Ward has the bills and will talk to Mr. Bogert to see just what all these bills are for. This is a new car and a rental unit and the Village feels it is the responsibility of the Rental Agency to have the Car in good running order at all times. Village may have to pay for oil changes, etc., but a new car should be under warranty and the Village should not have to pay for reapirs, as the car has never run right since it was delivered to Village.
