January 13, 1981
Minutes of a special workshop council meeting held in the municipal building
January lB, 1981.
Present: MaYor John O. Cotant, Jr., Councilmembers Becky A. Hopkins, Dwain
A. Kinghorn, Earl L. Romriell, Engineer Steven M. Smart and City Clerk
Vera C. Armstrong. Councilman LeRoy S. Quick excused.
Meeting called to order at 6:45 p.m.
Special meeting held for purpose of reviewing sign requirements for ordinance.
SIGN ORDINANCE REVIEW - Mayor and council discussed adopting the Uniform
Sign Code. The following amendments to the Uniform Sign Code, Chapter
14, page 27 were agreed upon.
l)
Temporary signs - portable electric signs not allowed,
Flashing light signs not allowed,
Temporary portable signs not allowed,
2)
Residential Temporary signs - not to exceed a certain square footage,
and home occupation signs to be mounted on building and not to be
spot lighted.
3) Animated signs - suggestions were to be permanent and at least a certain
number feet above ground.
Mayor and council agreed to meet Tuesday January 20 to continue consideration
of sign ordinance and also discuss mobile home requirements within city.
Mayor Cotant adjourned meeting until January 20, 1981 at 6:30 p~m.
