COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
August 17, 1982
Minutes of the adjourned council meeting of August lO held in the City
municipal building, August 17, 1982.
Present: Mayor John O. Cotant, Jr., Councilmembers Becky A. Hopkins, Dwain
A. Kinghorn, Thomas S. Nield, Public Works Director Steven M. Smart,
and City Clerk Vera C. Armstrong.
MEETING called to order at 5:00 p.m.
Purpose of meeting:- to adopt tentative budget for fiscal year 1982-83.
Mayor and Council reviewed the tentative budget as prepared. Budget
proposals for revenue sharing fund were decided, which consists of
$35,000. for building construction; $10,000 for computer enlargment;
$16,000. for Law Enforcement Equipment; $13,416.00 for Fire Control
equipment; $11,800. for Highway, Streets and Roads maintenance; $5,000.
for city radio system and $5,200. on the transit bus system.
Councilman Kinghorn moved to approve the tentative budget as presented
with revenue sharing funds to be used as agreed upon. Councilman Nield
seconded motion, vote was unanimous in favor of motion.
