Cotant, Jr., Council members Steven M. England, W. Dean Wood, Public Works Director Steven M. Smart and City Clerk Ron C. Conlin. Council members Leroy S. Quick, David A. Landon and Attorney Thomas J. Holmes were excused. There was no business discussed, because of the lack of a quorum. The agenda items for this meeting will be discussed at a Special Meeting, to be held on the, 20th. of June, 1990. The following Chubbuck residents were present to ask questions about the Chubbuck Fire Station Bond Election: Bart and Rodney Parrish, Harold Thompson, John Valenty, Pete Anderson and Paul Cramer. Mayor Cotant asked if anyone had comments regarding the Chubbuck Fire Station Bond Election. Paul Cramer, 575 Homestead suggested the City might have too much equipment, if the County is the reason we have the extra equipment, the County should be asked to pay for more of the fire station. Fire Chief Campbell explained, to keep the fire rating lower, the City needs to have the equipment we have now, whether we make calls to the County or not. Bannock County is paying the City approx. $50,000.00 for fire coverage. The City can ask the County to raise the payment, 55 maximum every year. Pete Anderson, 5000 Pleasant View spoke in favor of the Fire Station Bond. Rodney Parrish asked for a break down of where the $500,000.00 is going to be spent. PWD Smart gave an explanation of where the bond monies would be spent. The $500,000.00 was estimated, by the time we added architectural fees, items not see at this point, we wanted to have an adequate amount in the bond. Rodney Parrish said felt the $500,000.00 is more than is needed. Mayor Cotant said there is a possibility, we will not have to spend the full $500,000.00, if we don't, we will not sell the full $500,000.00 in bonds. 117 CHUBBUCK FIRE STATION BOND ELECTION DISCUSSION - (Cont.) Bart Parrish, 229 Parrish Ave. stated, he felt the building bid is way over priced. Bart said he felt there is a more money being asked for, than what is needed. Fire Chief Campbell stated bids have been received, these are the best bids presented. F C Campbell stated there are State and Federal Regulations that have to be met. Mr. Cramer asked, does the Fire Department want the tower and burn pit in down town Chubbuck. F C Campbell said the closer to the station the better. Mayor Cotant said maybe the costs will not add up to the $500,000.00, if not the City will not spend the full amount. Discussion on the Chubbuck Fire Station Bond Election ended at 8:34 p.m.
