MinUtes of a special meeting of the Land Use & land Development Commission
held in the city municipal building, January 17, 1980.
Meeting called to order at 7:18 p.m. by Acting Chairman Becky Hopkins.
Present: Chairman Becky Hopkins, Commission Members: Del Peters,
Dean Wood, Mike Metcalfe and Myrna Cain, City Engineer, Steven Smart and
Secretary, Dorothy Ward. Richard Allen was excused.
Chairman Hopkins said meeting had been called to consider waiving the platting
requirements for McKee's Feed & Seed, on Evans Lane. Chairman Hopkins said
Mr McKee had been to the City Council with his request and he had been
referred back to the Land Use & Land Development Commission for their
recommendations on this matter. She explained this business as a retail
business rather than a mill type business.
The Commission discussed the difference between the two businesses and
questioned Mr. McKee as to his operation. Mr. McKee said Aspen Building
Systems, the contractors for his building, had not been aware of the platting
requirements and had planned on having his building operational by April 1, 1980,
which is prime time for their business. He said their business is a retail
business only, they cater to home gardners and pet owners rather than
the farm market.
Del Peters asked Engineer Steven Smart about the platting requirement and
he said very possibly the platting would not need to be recorded.
The Commission reviewed the plans and the plot plans for the McKee's Feed
& Seed Store.
Mike Metcalfe made motion to recommend to the City Council the request of
waiVing the platting requirements of Mr. McKee be granted. Dean Wood
seconded the motion. The voting was unanimous in favor.
Mike Metcalfe made motion to adjourn meeting at 7:30 p.m. and Dean Wood
seconded the motion. All voted in favor.
