January 3, 1995
Minutes of a Special Meeting held at city municipal
January 3, 1995.

Present: Mayor John O. Cotant, Council members Steven M. England,
W. Dean Wood, Marvin C. Gunter, PWD Steve Smart and City
Clerk Ron C. Conlin. Councilman Leroy S. Quick and Attorney
Thomas J. Holmes were excused.
Meeting was called to order at 5:45 p.m. by Mayor Cotant.
PURPOSE OF MEETING is to discuss amending water, sewer rates and
computer print-out claims.
WATER AND SEWER RATE DISCUSSION - Discussion about air stripping
costs as compared to drilling new production wells.
Mayor Cotant asked if we can save monies air stripping one
well, and only drilling one well. PWD Smart felt we can save
some monies.
Council was in favor of reviewing the costs of air stripping
one well, then drilling only one well.
Discussion about amending water rate.
Mayor Cotant suggested amending the water rates to $10.00 base
no water, then $.70 per thousand gallon. Residents are
concerned with the S8.00 base rate increase.
PWD Smart said the $8.00 increase is not all go to install the
wells, there have been salary, cost of living increases, water
testing increases that are including in the $8.00 increase.
Mayor Cotant suggested the sewer rate of $17.00 be amended to
$14.00 or $15.00. PWD Smart stated we need see what
remaining legal costs there might be on the lawsuit with the
City of Pocatello before we lower the sewer rate.
Mayor Cotant suggested leaving water and sewer rates as is,
for further consideration, then proceed on getting definite
direction on air stripping the wells. In the future there
might be help at the State and Federal level.
PWD Smart stated, before too long, we will have to hire a
consultant to prepare specifications to drill a well.

Councilman Wood moved to approve computer print-out claims as
presented. Councilman Gunter seconded. All council members
present voted in favor of motion.
At 6:50 p.m., Councilman Wood moved, Councilman England seconded,
with full council approval to adjourn meeting.

CITY OP CHUBBUCK
Pursuant to Idaho Code Section 50-604, the undersigned Mayor
of the City of Chubbuck, Idaho, hereby calls a special meeting of
the City Council to be held at the Chubbuck Municipal Building, at
the hour of 5:00 p.m., on Tuesday, the 3rd. day of January, 1995.
The object of the special meeting shall be discuss amending water,
and computer print out/~s.

Pursuant to the call set forth above, notice is hereby given
of a special meeting of the Chubbuck city Council at the time and
place, and for the object, recited in the call.
